Personal Development By Virtually Nomadic / September 25, 2014 Have you ever sat with a pessimist and listened to them talk? Did you learn something new? Did you two come up with a brilliant idea for the greatest adventure or how to improve your business or even start a new one? Probably not. Maybe that meeting was so painful that you even felt you had just wasted your precious time. And time is the reason why it’s better to be surrounded by positive people. Every time that ticks by is an opportunity, an idea or a new venture waiting to happen. You just have to seize the moment and make the most out of it. So who are the positive people that you should hang out with? Edmund Lee has summarized the 5 kinds of positive people who would never waste your time with negativity but empower success in you. “Surround yourself with the dreamers and the doers, the believers and thinkers, but most of all, surround yourself with those who see the greatness within you, even when you don’t see it yourself.” – Edmund Lee I’ll be detailing each type in the hopes that you’d come up with names of these kinds of people. If you can’t, ask yourself why? First, surround yourself with dreamers These types can be the artists or entrepreneurs in your batch in school and office. If you’re feeling down and depressed, these are the people that would temporarily take you to a world that they are trying to bring to reality. Somehow, they will also bring you to that younger you who dreamed and is now being hounded by the frustrations of making that dream come true. But after the journey, you’ll be refreshed despite the hurdles because you have the beautiful picture of what you’re trying to achieve. Those who dare to do If you have a pressing problem and you cannot find a solution, then rally the doers you know. These are the always-thinking-on-their-toes and forever active types. And most likely, they know a lot of people and organizations that may help you. With the doers, a problem is not a cause of headache but another chance to bring in better actions, a new chance to succeed! The Believer Doubt can bury itself deep and sometimes remarkably easily if we’re embarking on a new journey. We want to run back in our comfort zones even though we know that in risking, we might learn something new. In this case, a person with faith will tell you to just keep your momentum walk and enjoy the journey. A believer is just someone with faith in a god who will tell you that a prayer will go a long way when you doubt your path. A believer is also that friend who has faith in your own strengths and talents. What cannot be doubted is that a believer will provide the good vibes and the encouraging kick for a determined stride. He who thinks While doers can help you with ironing problematic details, thinkers can help you see things in the macro level. If you’re trying to start a new business, schedule a date with a thinker who can give your fearless forecast about trends and what you can expect. Even for personal problems, thinkers will help you cut through the pretentious layers to get to the core of the issue. Be prepared though, because some of them can be so ruthless for details to help them think of the whole scenario. For brainstorming, count on them to help you think out of the box. The True Friend – No one knows you better Lastly, those who see the greatness within you, even when you don’t see it yourself are really the must-have buddies for everyone. There is nothing more rewarding than knowing that if we achieve our dreams, these will be the people who will pat us in the back. Relationships with these kinds of people can have its ups and downs. If they see your greatness, they also know your weaknesses and would frankly tell you about your mistakes. But this is important because they will always bring you up and haul you from your own darkness if necessary. Because they know you can be greater and better if you will only continuously try to succeed. Are there names that pop in your head that qualify in any of these 5 types of positive people? Keep them close because they can enrich your life and help you become a better person.
